“The Whirlwind of Time”

For my "HOME Series" I asked people what 'home' means to them. I am very grateful for the wonderful and heartfelt responses I received.

“To me personally, home can be both: a concept of feeling seen and understood by the people around me that I love and trust, and of that I know I can call up anytime to spend some nice time or get help and support from, and who see me unmasked and free and show me that I can be safe with them. 

But I also struggle with creating that special feeling for myself and believing I can reach that with a partner one day, because I have been feeling so different and changed so much since the last time I tried to create it. But also, it can not be forced.

Also, the feeling of being home has always been linked to not one, but several special places, smells, lighting... moods, which fill my memories with feelings of special moments, either on my own or with people around. It can be represented in pictures or small trinkets that remind me of having lived through happy, sad, exhausting, or otherwise meaningful times, and that time passes either way. I realized I also draw a lot of houses, or homes, because I seek the feeling of safety and warmth in my life. It's never easy, but the more active I am, the better it gets.”
